Charity competition founded in Perth on 3 March 1888. The initial tournament saw five clubs invited - Fair City Athletic, St Johnstone, Erin Rovers, Caledonian Rangers (all fom Perth) and Bridgend Athletic.

The Perth Swimming Bath Badges was orgainised to help raise funds for the new local swimming baths

1889-90 Reid Charity Cup First round 5 Apr Fair City Athletic v Black Watch 1-5 17 Apr Caledonian Rangers v St Johnstone 4-0 abandoned after 85 mins when Stewart of Caledonian refused to leave after being ordered off. 1892-93 Reid Charity Cup 17 May Fair City Athletic v St Johnstone 2-0 at Balhousie Park, Perth	1893-94 Reid Charity Cup Blairgowrie challenged St Johnstone for the trophy with the game due on 17 February, but the game wasn't played
