The Clackmannashire
Charity FA was formed in 1887 and organized a Charity Cup tournament for the
county's Senior clubs. In 1890 a Junior competition was also set up, the first
competition in 1890 featured ten Junior clubs plus the reserve sides of of the county's four remaining Senior clubs; Alloa Athletic, Alva, Clackmannan and Tillicoutry.
Both contests ran until the CCFA disbanded in 1896. To take its place, Alva
Albion Rangers helped set up the Clackmannanshire Junior FA. Two of the first
things it did was to restore the Clackmannanshire Charity Cup and organize the Clackmannanshire Junior League during
January 1896. To help make up numbers, the league was augmented at times by
clubs from Fife and Stirlingshire. When the league eventually disbanded in 1908,
its member clubs were eventually accepted into the Second Division of the Stirlingshire Junior League. A move had
been made to restart the league in 1908-09 but this was eventually aborted.
In 1901 the
Clackmannanshire Junior FA had received the old Clackmannanshire Charity Cup.
The trophy was put up for competition as the county's Junior Cup and continued until
1908 when the CJFA disbanded and its member clubs joined the Stirlingshire
Junior FA. At its last AGM on 5 September 1908, it was agreed that in future
the competition would be called the Alloa and
District Junior Cup, which continued until 1913.
